Phoenix project wants to rise from the ashes of webOS with open source wings
It looks like webOS isn't going quietly into the mobile OS retirement home. While its journey to open-source continues, an eager cabal of developers, fans and designers have decided to reignite the ill-fated operating system under the banner of Phoenix International Communications. Focusing its efforts on transporting open webOS to existing devices, both HP-made and otherwise, Phoenix also wants throw in some new features and fixes -- presumably throwing in some extra software gems and UI tweaks. If it all goes to plan, the organization even wants to bring new webOS devices to market -- a heady dream, but you've got to admire their pluck. Any webOS devotees out there can pledge their allegiance (and assistance) to the cause at the source below.

Dell's Tablet: Netbook Redux?
New details have emerged regarding an upcoming Dell tablet device, which could be one of the first to run Windows 8. The tablet will reportedly run on a dual-core Intel Cloverleaf processor with 2GB of RAM and 128 GB of SSD storage. It will have a 10.1-inch display.

T-Mobile HTC One S software update coming tomorrow!
If you're the proud owner of an HTC One S on T-Mobile, you'll want to keep an eye out on May 31 for your software update notification. As noted on the T-Mobile site, an update is set for release that day and has some bug fixes and improvements that it will bring to the device:
Improvements
- Resolves goodbye splash not appearing when powering off due to low battery.
- Resolves voicemail indicator not appearing while using Wi-Fi calling.
- Improvements to Wi-Fi Calling
- Improvements to camera stability
- Resolves signal fluctuation.
You'll have to be on software version 1.53.531.76 710RD, not rooted and have more than 50 percent battery life in order to take the update. When completed, you will then be on software version 1.84.531.2 710RD. Hit the links below to check out the full details or discuss more in the Android Central Forums. Adblock Plus developer pokes holes in Mozilla's new add-on performance tests
Rather surprisingly, it turns out that Mozilla's numbers could be significantly wrong -- and if they're not wrong, the factors that Mozilla uses to tabulate an add-ons final score should definitely be made more transparent.
In the first set of tests, Palant shows that FlashGot's position in the top 10 is probably due to a fault in Mozilla's testing setup, and that add-ons can perform very differently depending on which operating system they're being tested on. In the second analysis, Palant uncovers an irregularity that doesn't seem to have an obvious cause -- but it could be due to an I/O bottleneck on Mozilla's test machines. Basically, even though performance testing of Read It Later is disabled because of a bug, it still (somehow!) manages to record a 14% slow-down on Windows 7.
Palant concludes both analyses by scolding Mozilla for going public with the performance data before its testing methods had been confirmed accurate. It definitely looks like Mozilla has been more than a little reckless, considering the importance of Firefox's add-on ecosystem.

NYT: Facebook Is Working on Its Own Smartphone (Again) [Rumors]
Asus teases the 'Next Transformations' ahead of Computex 2012
"Join us as we introduce the truly incredible Next Transformations." The message delivered by Asus in a teaser trailer ahead of their Computex 2012 showcase in Taipei. Computex is right around the corner, and any big trade show needs some product teasers to whet everybody's appetites.
Other than this, and blatant cloud talk, there really isn't anything to go on. Nor, for that matter is there anything Android related to go on. At the point all we have is pure, un-bridled speculation. But, given Asus' record, it does leave us wondering if we're about to be treated to some more goodies from the Taiwanese OEM.
Remember too, back at MWC we got a hands on with the Transformer Pad Infinity, which is still to make it to market. So, that could be involved in some way. Or, we could get something completely new and breathtaking. Either way this is Asus, so it's definitely one to keep watch over.
